Fungal Nail Treatments

Fungal Nail Treatment Options:

What are fungal nails?

A fungus is an organism that lives in warm moist areas. Fungus of the toenails is a common problem that can affect people of all ages, although it most commonly affects individuals who are older.

Toenail fungus often begins as an infection in the skin called tinea pedis (also known as athlete’s foot). The fungus often starts under the nail fold at the end of the nail. Over time, it grows underneath the nail and causes changes to its appearance, such as a yellow or brownish discoloration. It can also cause thickening and deformity of the toenail.

Fungal nails if assessed and diagnosed early enough can be treated with aggressive topical treatments. However, most OTC treatments are only less then 20% successful.

Professional Topical Treatments

Our treatment protocol indicated on the right of the screen is greater than 90% successful when we start treatment before the root if the nail is affected. Do not waste time and money with OTC options. Let Dr Martins see if you are a good candidate for this treatment.

Oral Medication

Oral anti fungal have been on the market and is generic with a low cost. However, not every patient is a candidate for this medication. Talk to Dr Martins to see what is your ideal option.
